和每位80后一样，童年伴随我的是多啦A梦、阿拉蕾、舒克贝塔。那时便梦想拥有自己设计的动漫形象。

Just like those who were born in 1980s, I grew up with many comics such as Doraemon, Arale and Shuke and Beita. At that time when I was still a child, I dreamed of my own design of comics.

我是插画设计师，李延，我是厦门的一名大男孩儿。

I’m Lee Yan, an illustrator in Xiamen.

伊文兔是我比较早的一个设计形象，让人印象深刻的是他张得大大的嘴巴，夸张的大笑，这其实寓意着对于生活的乐观态度，就像厦门一样，充满轻快的活力。

Iven rabbit was the image I designed long before and its most impressive is its big mouth and laugh which mean its optimism toward life, being as vital as Xiamen city.

夏萌猫，是我为这座城市创作的宠物，意思是夏天的萌猫，而“夏萌”和“厦门”谐音，把厦门形象化为一只有血有肉有思想的“夏萌猫”，让厦门成为一座有萌猫出没的萌系城市。我希望通过夏萌猫让人们感受到这座城市的亲近与温暖。

Summer Mew is the pet I designed for Xiamen and the name means it’s a cute cat of summer. The Chinese pronunciation of Summer Mew sounds almost the same as the pronunciation of Xiamen, so it’s the imagery of Xiamen and is depicted true to life. I designed it to make Xiamen become a cute city full of cute cats and also intended to make people feel the friendliness and warmth of this city by Summer Mew.

在颜色上我采用了黄与红的暖色系搭配，黄色代表厦门充盈的阳光和灿烂的沙滩，红色代表厦门的市花三角梅。厦门给我的感觉就是温暖，是治愈，我把对这座城市的感觉赋在夏萌猫上，让她有种暖萌治愈的个性。

I used yellow and red in the color way as yellow means energetic sunshine and sand beach and red represents the bougainvillea speetabilis, the symbol flower of Xiamen. Anyway what I feel from Xiamen is its warmth which can kill anything unpleasant. So I put such feeling to my design of Summer Mew, making its character as cute as to heal people who gets hurt.  

这个时代有太多的浮躁，而厦门是一个让我很舒心的地方，如果说一座温暖的城市是自己的家，我觉得厦门不只是我的家，而是家里卧室中那张柔软的大床，就像猫一样柔，一样暖。

Nowadays, there are too many uncertainties in this world but I’m relieved and feel reassured by living in Xiamen. If a warm city can be regarded as one’s home, then I think Xiamen is not only like my home but also like the soft and cozy bed at home, as soft and warm as what one can feel from a cat. 

金砖国家领导人会晤在厦门举行前夕，受厦门市委文明办和厦门市旅游局之邀，夏萌猫担负起厦门文明礼仪宣传使者的使命，争当文明东道主，把一座美丽而文明的城市展现给世界，这让我感到骄傲。从此，夏萌猫她不再只是个卡通形象，而是代表着厦门的精神特质。

Before the BRICS Summit to be held in Xiamen, invited by Xiamen Municipal Civilization Office and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Summer Mew plays a role as a messenger of civilized manners, making Xiamen be a good host city for the summit, showing the world its beauty and civilization. I’m proud of this as Summer Mew is not only a cartoon image but also represents Xiamen spirit 

她就像我的孩子一样，我创作了她，看着她慢慢长大。而她，我的夏萌猫，会带你感受这座城市的温度，在这里，除了繁华，还有一份安逸，这种感觉就如同回到小时候，夏天躺在凉椅上吃着西瓜，看着动画片，奶奶在旁边摇着蒲扇，猫咪就萌萌懒懒地躺在脚边。

It’s just like my own child as I created it, watching its growing up. My Summer Mew will lead you to feel the warmth of the city which is not only bustling but also cozy and the feeling you will have in this city is just like being back to childhood in summer when you sit on the cool bamboo chair, eating watermelon and watching cartoons in TV and your grandmother rocked cattail leaf fan for you with a cat lounging beside your feet.

外面的阳光刚好。

The sunshine outside is just fine.
